A West Virginia Whimsical Senior Session

Honestly, senior sessions are always a highlight for me. The idea of getting a full photoshoot to celebrate senior year was something I always looked forward to. It's something I want every senior to look forward to as well.

Autumn's session was definitely one of those dreamy shoots. She wanted to incorporate her love of books and dancing, and we built the whole concept around those passions."

We chose to shoot in August at a secluded farm with a small orchard just outside of Lewisburg, WV. It was a small farm with the perfect cottagecore vibe. It was a stunning backdrop that really fit our vision. Selecting a location is very important for your senior session.

We worked together to plan her outfit and props. I brought some props, and she and her mother brought some as well.

We started off setting up a picnic in the orchard where she could read under the trees.

When clients have a scene, props, and/or an activity that they can participate in and interact with, it makes it easier to achieve a more creative, storytelling style. I always strive to incorporate props, scenes, and/or activities in my sessions.

We captured some photos with her pointe shoes next. She has been involved in dance since she was very young.

After this, we hiked to a far hill on the farm to watch the sun go down and capture the magic of blue hour, incorporating the moon into our photos. One thing about sessions in nature: you normally have to hike to get to the good spots. This spot is breathtaking, and so are the photos. It was worth the short hike!

It's incredibly difficult to choose my favorites from this session. The picnic scene is undeniably dreamy, but the blue-hour photos are truly magical. The entire gallery is filled with so many creative images.
